Stainless Structurals America is Growing

In August of 2019, Stainless Structurals broke ground on a new construction project to increase capacity and further develop the facility in Conroe, Texas. Now complete, this expansion will benefit our team, the community and our clients in many ways.

Room to Grow

In 2012, Stainless Structurals moved its North American operations from Jacksonville, Florida to a 44-acre campus in Conroe, Texas. With the demand for stainless steel structural profiles growing, it was clear that a domestic production facility was needed to increase the supply and bolster the market. The strategy behind this move was to be centrally located to easily supply North and South America as well as the proximity to one of the largest ports in the United States, the Port of Houston.
The original footprint consisted of a 120,000 SQ FT production facility and 5,000 SQ FT office with a warehouse design that allowed for future expansion whenever that time would come. Little did we know that time would come sooner rather than later.  Operating at three shifts per day, five days a week, business continued to grow and our laser-fused products became popular in the architecture, engineering and construction industries.

New Technology and New Product Offerings

With steadily increasing demand and new products on the horizon, Stainless Structurals decided to expand its production facility. The project called for an additional 110,000 SQ FT of the warehouse, bringing the total to 230,000 SQ FT. Construction started in August of 2019 and we received our certificate of occupancy on June 1, 2020.
This plant expansion will not just benefit Stainless Structurals but also our customers and all downstream consumers. The additional space will allow us to bring in a new fiber laser (solid-state) welder to give us a second production line. With this increased capacity, we will be able to offer shorter lead times to meet our customer’s needs as well as other advantages. Our goal is to offer standard sections such as beams, channels, angles and tees in just 2 weeks in standard lengths from start to finish. The new laser will also increase the parameters of our size range and allow for higher flexibility of custom geometries and unorthodox shapes.
Another addition to our capabilities from this expansion will be a carbon steel production line. Mainly for architectural applications, this will allow us to produce sharp cornered steel profiles in A36, A572 or other carbon grades. This is becoming a very popular trend in curtain walls and canopy type projects where the sharp corners are aesthetically pleasing with a contemporary look. More information on our carbon line will be available upon completion in July.
Other accompaniments to the facility include five 10-ton cranes for production, 100% LED lighting for all of the building and office exterior and interior lighting, an outdoor pavilion with a kitchen and grill to be used for breaks and employee functions, and other miscellaneous features.
